Help with Local Hair Color (listed on the App Store as Hair Color Changer: Try On) for iPhone and iPad. Choosing media, finding your hair, recoloring, corrections, and saving all happen on your device.

Get a clearer preview

• Choose a well-lit photo where your hair is visible and stands out from the background.
• Use a photo with one main person, little motion blur, and no filter that changes your hair’s texture.
• Lower the intensity if the color looks stronger than the lighting in your photo can support.
• Tap Natural in the shade row to compare with your original, and pinch to zoom in on the edges.

Fix the hair selection

On a photo, open Refine Selection when hair is missed or nearby skin, clothing, or background picked up color. Choose Add Hair or Remove Hair, pick a brush size, and paint over the area. Undo steps one at a time, or use Reset to Automatic to clear all your corrections.

Video

After unlocking access, choose a video from the main screen, pick a shade and intensity, and save. Quick saves faster with smaller files; Quality refines the hair in every saved frame and takes longer. The original audio is kept. Brush corrections are for photos only. If the app says a clip needs too much memory, choose a shorter or lower-resolution video.

Purchases and restores

Use Restore Purchases on the access screen after reinstalling the app or switching devices. Make sure the device is signed in to the Apple account used for the original purchase. Existing yearly subscriptions restore the same way. Purchases and restores can need an internet connection; normal editing doesn’t.

The App Store shows the current price, billing period, and renewal terms before you confirm. Manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions.

Saving an edit

The app asks for permission to add to Photos only when it needs to save a new result, and it never overwrites your original. If saving fails, check the app’s Photos permission in Settings, make sure your device has free storage, and try again.

Limitations

The preview is a visual planning tool, not a guarantee of salon or dye results. It colors your selected hair in one shade. Fine flyaways, see-through ends, strong backlight, hats, several people, and low-contrast backgrounds may need manual correction. Real color also depends on your starting shade, hair condition, previous treatments, products, and technique.
